3. Sudden Trouble Speaking or Understanding
A senior experiencing a TIA may suddenly begin speaking differently.
Possible signs include:
Slurred speech
Garbled words
Difficulty finding simple words
Saying things that do not make sense
Being unable to understand what others are saying
The person may look awake and alert but still be unable to communicate normally.
Ask them to repeat a simple sentence. Any sudden change in speech or comprehension should be treated urgently.
4. Sudden Vision Changes
A temporary disruption in brain blood flow can also affect vision.
Symptoms may include:
Sudden blurred vision
Double vision
Loss of vision in one eye
Loss of part of the visual field
Sudden difficulty seeing normally
